The Phase 6 development of the Spring Gully Gas Fields is part of Origin Energy's ongoing expansion to ensure delivery of gas meets demand. The project consisted of infrastructure work over three sites that form the Spring Gully Development.
The infrastructure included 3 new compressor slabs, in fill slabs, pipe support footings and a total of 150 piers to varying depths. Services required were conduit, earthing, storm and oily water pipes pits and manholes.
Due to the remote location there was an associated degree of difficulty when managing logistics of plant, labour and materials. This increased the emphasis for front end planning and programming.
The specification and tolerances for concrete and concrete works required a well managed site and extremely high standards of finish. A batch plant was mobilised to ensure that these tolerances were met but also to ensure the quantity of concrete required daily was available to meet the forecasted program of works.
Working in and around a live gas plant increased the challenge set by the client for safety and project delivery. FKG's systems and a proactive approach by skilled project staff ensured that safety and quality on this job was to the highest level.
The Spring Gully Gas Fields will allow further expansion to the booming mining industry around Roma.
