The FK Gardner & Sons Group continues to grow and diversify its already extensive portfolio into the mining sector with the announcement of their latest division, FKG Mining to commence operations early in 2012.
The Queensland owned and operated family company is built from a 40 year construction and engineering heritage. Recognised as a dynamic, growth focused, leading provider of civil, construction, development, plant hire and related services concentrated in QLD, FKG is now extending throughout eastern Australia.
General Manager Nick Gardner understands that the success of this new division will be based on the strong foundational business pillars that has shaped the achievements of the current FKG business units.
"We made the strategic decision to move into the mining sector with the knowledge that as a group we have systems that are 3rd party accredited, large construction fleet, a skilled team and experience working in often remote environments similar to the mining sector such as oil, gas and civil infrastructure"
"As with any new venture there is some uncertainty especially in the current global economic climate however we believe FKG is well placed to provide our clients with solutions to their mining requirements with a specific focus on infrastructure works for open cut coal and metalliferous mine sites" he said.
Newly appointed Group Manager for FKG Mining Mike Lynn has over 30 years experience in the mining industry and is excited by the challenge of building this new division. Mike's experience is not just limited to Australia having executed successful mining contracts in both New Zealand and Indonesia working for companies like BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Xstrata.
Mike sees the major benefit FKG can bring to the mining sector is utilising existing strengths to provide a one-stop-shop of mining, civil, plant and construction services.
"Our intent is to build solid relationships with a smaller number of key clients delivering mutual benefits. FKG provides collaborative and visionary solutions in the marketplace now and mining can also benefit from this approach" he said.
Through vast team experience and existing relationships with many heavy industry and mining related companies FKG are extremely excited about future prospects.
