Witmack Industry Park - Gateway to the West     02 September 2011

Work is currently underway on Toowoomba's largest industrial land development, Witmack Industry Park - Gateway to the West.

The development spans across 230.5 acres which is equivalent to 130 football fields, and will provide much needed industrial facilities for multi national, national and local companies looking to establish a base to service the Surat Basin energy province and darling downs.

Local company FK Gardner and Sons Group is responsible for the development which reflects the company's faith in the region.  Witmack Industry Park is located 340km away from Roma the service centre of the CSG industry, 140km away from the Port of Brisbane and is 15 minutes out of the Toowoomba CBD, which services employees who relocate.

FKG Development Manager, Mr Dallas Hunter is excited that site works have commenced on the mammoth $80 million Development which marks FKG's final investment decision to proceed with the project to service the coming demand.

"With the significant growth Toowoomba and the Surat Basin will experience in the next 5 years it is important for businesses to strategically position themselves to be part of this major hub of activity.  We have found that a lot of industrial businesses are outgrowing their current locations and there is also a shortage of lots available at this size" Mr Hunter said.

The development will provide tenants and owners with large size blocks from 2 hectares which are currently non existent in the Toowoomba market.  FKG expects to announce the first business who will be establishing in the estate in the coming weeks.  There has been strong demand for the estate with 16 hectares already committed.

Mr Hunter also believes that another competitive advantage for businesses basing their operations out of Toowoomba is the cost of land.

"We are able to provide our clients with a cost advantage as the land is available at a third of the price compared to Ipswich or the Trade Coast area in Brisbane" Mr Hunter said.

FKG has the ability to guarantee when public infrastructure will be provided to the estate via the landmark Infrastructure Agreement signed with Toowoomba Regional Council, with the land price to include council infrastructure charges including for Material Change of Use development approvals.

To also ensure occupiers achieve the best value, all black soil will be removed, therefore lowering the buildings construction and hardstand costs.

As companies move into the Toowoomba and Western Downs region it will not only create additional jobs but also result in a boost to the local economy.  This impressive project will add to the already extensive development portfolio of FK Gardner & Sons Group.

An official Turning of the Sod was held on Friday 26 August.  If you would like further information about this exciting development you should contact Dallas Hunter on 0746 200 507.
