We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Leading Hand to join our “One FKG” team based out of Cairns / Atherton. Joining FKG provides you with the opportunity to apply your vast experience and proactive management style in a challenging and rewarding environment. Reporting to and working closely with the Project Manager and Site Manager, the Leading Hand will be hands-on, client focused, safety orientated and a lateral thinker who has a positive can-do approach.

To be successful, candidates will be able to demonstrate:

  • 2+ years practical experience in similar role specialising in regional and remote commercial projects
  • Takes a hands on, practical approach to tasks, displaying refined carpentry skills and other multiple trade skills (ie. concrete, tiling, roofing)
  • Ability to work in Atherton and stay overnight if based in Cairns
  • Excellent technical construction skills with the ability to solve problems and rectify technical issues
  • Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • An exceptional level of verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in subcontractor management and a well-developed knowledge of contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage individuals and high performance teams
  • Highly developed time management, scheduling, and organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • A Manitou licence is beneficial
