Downs Group Training Opens its Doors in Toowoomba

9th March 2018

This morning, Friday 9 March, marked the official opening of the newly constructed Downs Group Training (DGT) offices, which adjoin the organisations existing training facility in Toowoomba. A not-for-profit group and registered training company, DGT have been operating in Toowoomba for over 30 years, helping to create career pathways for budding apprentices and trainees with the help of local employers.

Toowoomba Mayor, Cr Paul Antonio, was on hand to officially open the offices along with John Blakeney, DGT Chairman of the Board and Darren McDonell, DGT CEO.

Athol Gossow, Area Manager for Construction and Glenn Johnstone, Foreman both attended the opening, representing the FKG Group.

“It’s great to work on a project for a not-for-profit like Downs Group Training. The FKG Group has used their services in the past so our relationship is a bit of a two-way street,” said Athol.

The FKG Group was engaged to design and construct the new 460m2 Class 5 office building, following on from the successful refurbishment of the original DGT facility in 2016.

The new offices will help DGT to continue servicing the community to the highest possible standard by housing the previously separated training and employment teams under one roof on the one site. The new modern facilities, comfortable learning environments, and dedicated training spaces, will help to deliver higher quality outcomes for every student.
