The FKG Group pledges to help Toowoomba women’s shelter

18th June 2019

With a strong focus on backing the local community, Toowoomba based contractor FKG Group has pledged to assist women’s shelter Protea Place.

The shelter is positioned to open later this year and will provide women who are experiencing difficult circumstances with a secure and peaceful support base as well as a place to shower, charge their phones, and connect with like-minded people.

FKG Group Executive Chairman Gary Gardner has proposed to cover a third of the rent and is actively encouraging other businesses to donate.

“We are pleased to help out with this great community initiative and want to encourage all other local businesses in Toowoomba to contribute much needed funds. Protea Place urgently need a hand to be able to secure a premise and then continue the great work they are doing in providing a safe place for homeless women.  It definitely tugs on the heart strings knowing that people who are part of our local community in Toowoomba continue to sleep rough.”

“All monies raised will help to fast track the opening of Protea Place and provide the necessities to ensure everyone who visits has what they need to make them feel comfortable,” Gary continued.
