The FKG Group was awarded the Lump Sum contract to deliver St Mary’s College New Auditorium – Edmund Rice Cultural Centre, in Toowoomba.
The works involved the construction of a new auditorium building as well as all necessary works to connect all relevant services, inclusive of site preparation for the installation of electrical supply and sewer relocation works. The project also involved some minor site clearing.
As the project was delivered within an operational environment, the safety of all students, staff, visitors and workforce were of highest priority. Careful staging and construction methodologies that minimised the impact of construction works were critical to the project’s success.
Through FKG’s diligent design assistance throughout the project, the team developed a close relationship with the school, the architect, and the Superintendent. Architecturally, the finished building achieved the high–quality outcomes desired by the school, with the architect and client pleased with the outcome.
The project was successful in winning the Master Builders Award for Education Facilities over $10 Million (Downs and Western) in 2021.
