Sector: Government Facilities, Transport
Service: Construct Only

With the aim of improving road safety and travel times for commuters on the Warrego Highway, the FKG Group Civil team was engaged by the Department of Transport and Main Roads to complete the construction of the Dalby Eastern and Dalby Western Access Upgrade projects. The project was the first joint venture for the FKG Group, undertaken with partners McIlwain Civil.

The combined $115 million projects required full re-construction of the highway for seven kilometres, from east of Winton Street through to west of Watt Street in Dalby.

Works included upgrades to the existing four lanes, construction of additional turning lanes, installation of traffic lights at intersections, street lighting, storm water replacement, construction of centre median strips and urban landscaping throughout the town. Pavement construction comprised of lime stabilised subgrade, cement stabilised gravels, and deep lift asphalt.

At the western end of the project, the Warrego Highway was realigned south of the existing highway, with the old highway now acting as a service road to access commercial property in the industrial estate, adding value to local businesses.

The eastern end of the project required a high level of engagement with local businesses throughout the project’s duration, and private property entrances were managed effectively by pro-active community consultation and engagement.

Dalby Eastern and Western Access Upgrades are a part of the $635 million Warrego Highway Upgrade Program funded 80% by the federal government and 20% by the state government.
