The FKG Group has recently launched the Wellness Matters program an initiative aimed at assisting staff to improve their health and wellbeing.
The program – funded partly by the FKG Group and the Queensland State Government’s, “Healthier. Happier. Workplaces” scheme – provides an array of activities including one-on-one health assessments and healthy living presentations, and covers a range of topics from stress management to sun safety and many more.
Hayley Hubbard, Group Manager – HR said, “The exciting initiative will provide staff with methods and information on how they can improve their health and wellbeing. The program adds to our existing health and wellbeing programs, which provide employees with new, healthy-living related activities, relevant to their lifestyles.”
FKG Group has also facilitated site-based team participation by developing an intranet site where staff can access the programs resources, so that all staff regardless of where they are based can benefit from the program.
Matt Ahlberg, Learning and Development Manager and Wellness Matters Chair said, “The webpage provides a great resource for our staff to access the program information sheets on the various weekly healthy-living topics, and to stream presentations that were held in our offices; ensuring all staff can participate.”
The initiative complements the company’s existing health and wellness initiatives including: free skin cancer checks and flu vaccinations, free Employee Assistance Program; Corporate health insurance, free, nutritious lunches provided daily, personal training sessions, Pilates and boxing sessions.
The company also offers staff amenities to support health and wellbeing activities’ including a 20 metre heated lap pool, sauna, fully equipped gymnasium, outdoor gymnasium, organic garden and fully registered on-site Early Learning Centre facility, dedicated facility for the children of employees.
The initiative will also culminate in a staff pedometer challenge at the end of May, 2015.
