The FKG Group would like to congratulate Mark Foley, FKG Group’s Chief Operating Officer who recently completed the gruelling 300 kilometre 10-day Youngcare Simpson Desert Challenge trek alongside 15 others, and raised $42,765 in the process for the organisation.
Committed to driving change and developing practical alternatives to aged care, for young Aussies with high care needs, Youngcare is dedicated to creating appropriate homes where young people can live young and independent lives, with appropriate and dignified care.
Mark is grateful of the support that he received during his fundraising endeavour, and believes that that the funds raised will make a real difference to many lives.
“Thank you to all who supported me. The experience of the Simpson Desert Challenge gave the trekkers a unique insight into the daily challenges that young Australians who have no option but to live in an aged care facilities are faced with; isolation, limitations and little decision making opportunities. We hope that this trek will raise much needed awareness and funding for these young people.”

The FKG Group ran a number of activities to assist with the Youngcare including a Trivia Night, silent auction and a two-week staff pedometer challenge which coincided with the FKG Group’s Wellness Matters staff initiative.
