The FKG Group has commenced works to build a new set of overtaking lanes on the Bruce Highway, at Alligator Creek.
Commencement of works was marked by the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss, and Federal Member for Dawson Mr George Christensen at an onsite event held recently.
The FKG Group was awarded the $4.4 million contract by Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to construct dual overtaking lanes on the Bruce Highway from Alligator Creek to Allendale Drive located south of Townsville.
Scope of works to be delivered by the FKG Group include the excavation of cuttings, ground surface treatment, embankment fill, culvert construction, placement of working platform, placement of plant mixed stabilised gravel, bitumen sealing, line-marking, installation of road furniture and landscaping.
FKG Group Senior Project Engineer Simon Weier said, “A high level of traffic control will be required throughout the project due to the high number of vehicles travelling on the Bruce Highway each day. Our team will work hard to minimise delays to the travelling public and remain committed to the safety of road uses and workforce.”
The project is expected to be completed later this year.
