The FKG Group has commenced construction of a state school in the brand new suburb, Aura, in Caloundra South.
Commencement of works was marked by the attendance of Education Minister Kate Jones, who joined the FKG Group’s Managing Director, Nick Gardner and Stockland’s General Manager for Queensland, Kingsley Andrew, to turn the first sod on the 20th January 2017.
FKG Group was awarded the $26 million contract to construct the Caloundra South State School by the Department of Education and Training, in conjunction with the developers, Stockland.
According to Hon. Kate Jones, the project will assist in growing the local building industry, whilst both creating and supporting over 150 jobs during construction.
The project will see the FKG Group deliver the construction of teaching facilities, carparks, administration and infrastructure facilities, a multipurpose hall, playing fields and special education unit, as well as complete the maintenance work for the first 10 years after opening.
The Caloundra school is expected to be complete in late 2017 in time for the start of the 2018 school year.
