6th February 2017
On Thursday 2nd February, 2017, the Nerang mountain biking trails and Gold Coast Cycle Centre were officially opened by Minister for the Environment and National Parks, Dr Steven Miles and the City of Gold Coast Deputy Mayor Donna Gates, ahead of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
As part of the facility upgrades, the FKG Group completed a range of refurbishment works including construction of a new amenities building and a spectator viewing platform which provides an ideal location to overlook the criterium track and existing outdoor velodrome. Works also included upgrades to the car-parking facilities, clubhouse and visitor access, ensuring the venue is completely accessible to people with disabilities.
The FKG Group completed works in July 2016, with the new improvements to the centre ensuring the venue meets both the needs of athletes and spectators at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, whilst also benefiting the local cycling community for many years to come.
