Blue Water Shipping Warehouse & Hardstand

FKG was engaged by Port of Brisbane for the design and construction of the Blue Water Shipping Warehouse. The 51,000m² facility included a 15,000m² warehouse, two-storey office, container-rated hardstand, wash bay, refuelling station, carpark, and landscaped areas.

Drawing on prior experience at the adjacent Malec Facility Warehouse, FKG fast-tracked approvals and overcame early weather delays by prioritising roofing and internal slab pours. Separate subcontractors were engaged for internal and external concrete works, with early morning pours mitigating wind-related cracking. Sustainability initiatives included low VOC paints, LED lighting, and recycled materials.

The project was completed four weeks ahead of the revised practical completion date, with high-quality outcomes and minimal defects. FKG maintained strong relationships with Port of Brisbane and neighbouring businesses, coordinating traffic and environmental controls to minimise disruption. Tenant involvement ensured the final facility met operational needs and expectations.
