FKG was engaged by BP Australia to deliver the design and construction of a new BP Service Station in Maclean, New South Wales. The scope included demolition of the existing facility, decommissioning and removal of the fuel system, remediation and validation of ground conditions, and construction of a new C250 store, canopy, and two 90kL tanks with four dispensers.
Located adjacent to the Clarence Valley River, the site presented environmental and geotechnical challenges, including high groundwater and poor marine soils. Sheet pile failures during preparatory works prompted a full redesign of the fuel system and temporary shoring, with additional timber and screw piles installed to mitigate ground risks.
FKG’s proactive soil testing reduced disposal costs, and internal fit-out was updated to align with BP’s latest standards. Despite an eight-month delay, the revised program was met, and the facility was delivered to a high standard with all quality outcomes achieved.
