Fortitude Valley Police Station Expansion

FKG were engaged to deliver a major expansion and refurbishment of the Fortitude Valley Police Station, enhancing its operational capacity while preserving its heritage character. The works were delivered across two stages, beginning with the construction of underground carparking, ground‑floor operational areas, and first‑floor office facilities linked to the existing building. The second stage involved the full restoration of the heritage‑listed structure.

Challenges associated with excavating more than 8,000m³ of rock beneath the site were addressed through controlled breaking methods and careful sequencing. Noise impacts within the busy precinct were managed through monitored mitigation measures. The project integrated complex security, services, and structural requirements, resulting in upgraded facilities that support modern police operations.
