The FKG Group was to construct a new engine rebuild facility in Rockhampton to support increasing demand across multiple industry sectors. The project delivered a 2,700m² steel‑framed, metal‑clad centre incorporating a purpose‑built dyno room for engine testing, supported by extensive mechanical systems including water‑cooling, oil and fuel services, acoustic treatments and specialised exhaust systems. Additional works included concrete paving, pre‑cast piling, and the construction of two oil‑store buildings to service rebuild operations.

Installation of gantry and jib cranes enabled safer and more efficient handling of heavy engines. Complex mechanical commissioning and ongoing design development presented challenges, compounded by the insolvency of the initial mechanical subcontractor. Despite this, accelerated programming allowed the facility to be completed ahead of schedule, delivering a modern, high‑capacity rebuild centre.
