FKG was engaged by Metro South Hospital and Health Services to deliver building services upgrades at QEII Jubilee Hospital under the Priority Capital Program. Works were staged across four Separable Portions, including HVAC upgrades, chiller replacements, and full lift modernisation.
Delivered within a live hospital environment, the project required detailed coordination to minimise disruption to critical operations. Shutdowns were planned in consultation with hospital stakeholders, and major works—including crane lifts and lift replacements—were scheduled outside of operational hours. Site access and hoarding were designed to maintain clear separation from public zones.
A COVID-19 Management Plan was implemented to ensure safety and compliance throughout the pandemic. Design reviews informed methodology and sequencing, while temporary systems such as rooftop chillers reduced spatial impact. Innovations included a lifting strategy that reduced crane size and traffic disruption.
