The FKG Group were engaged by the Queensland Department of Education to undertake the relocation and refurbishment of the existing heritage-listed Ravenswood State School buildings, including a Resource Centre (the original school building) and a residence that is North Queensland’s oldest residential building and is inclusive of a chimney.
The scope also included construction of new administration and GLA buildings, a sports facility, covered play areas, oval, and Principal’s accommodation on the new site, as well as associated car parking, and hard and soft landscaping.
As the existing site at School Street remained operational during the relocation, the FKG Group planned the construction works carefully and prioritised the safety of students, staff, and the public.
