To support the operational growth of RDO Equipment, the FKG Group Development team was engaged to manage the full development and design process for what would become the largest RDO Equipment facility globally. The scope coordination of development approvals, detailed facility design, and comprehensive planning to support construction delivery -undertaken by GFG Projects.
From the outset, RDO Equipment needed a location that could meet their high-volume operational requirements, accommodate large-scale machinery movement, and deliver a premium customer experience. The final site selected within the AATLIS Precinct in Toowoomba offered excellent access, a large land footprint, and the flexibility to create purpose-built spaces for display, servicing, warehousing, and administration.
The completed facility spans over 10,000m² of under-roof space, including workshops, showroom, parts storage, training rooms, and office areas, along with extensive hardstand to support all-weather operations and heavy equipment access. RDO also required that the site support their long-term growth goals while reinforcing their brand presence in the region.
With a tight timeline and significant operational needs, early strategic planning was critical. The Development team worked closely with the client and consultant team to fast-track procurement of key design and infrastructure elements.
Design coordination played a major role in the project’s success. The development team helped resolve complex requirements, including engineering a polished concrete showroom floor strong enough to bear the weight of RDO’s large mining, construction, and agricultural machinery, while also achieving the desired architectural finish. Structural and spatial design needed to accommodate gantry cranes, extra ceiling clearance, and extensive glazed frontage to create an open, inviting customer interface.
In collaboration with GFG Projects and the client, the Development team also managed the integration of high-frequency automated doors between key operational zones, and ensured early design allowances for specialist equipment such as vertical lifting machines and wash bay technology, which demanded ongoing coordination across disciplines.
Throughout the development process, RDO Equipment benefited from having a single point of contact within our team, streamlining communication and allowing them to remain focused on their core operations. The team’s in-house development and design capabilities enabled a collaborative, transparent process that delivered a seamless handover into the construction phase.
The FKG Group Development team is proud to have led the delivery of this flagship facility for RDO Equipment in Toowoomba. As a standout addition to the AATLIS Industrial Precinct, the project reflects FKG’s ability to deliver complex, large-scale industrial developments that balance operational excellence with architectural quality.
