The FKG Group was engaged by the Queensland Department of Health to construct a renal self-dialysis facility at the Toowoomba Base Hospital.
The scope of works included suspended concrete floors, installation of a steel-framed structure, purpose specific fit-out, driveway and front car parking, as well as landscaping to the street frontage. The project also required the installation of a specialised stainless-steel RO water distribution loop, including a filtration system.
Throughout the duration of the project, the team implemented strategies to successfully complete work in a live hospital environment. Road closures were scheduled during off peak time-frames, noise restrictions were adhered to, and fortnightly meetings were held to consult with the facility staff on progress, programming, patient movements and time constraints.
