Townsville Community Learning Centre

FKG was engaged to design and construct a new multi-purpose hall at Townsville Community Learning Centre, delivered within an operational special school environment. The scope included the hall facility, landscaped amenity spaces, access roads, and carparking.

Safety and minimal disruption were prioritised, with plastic-covered fencing and ground bars installed to prevent student access. Works were confined to one corner of the site, with clear delineation and traffic controls.

Design innovations included adjusting block wall heights and ramp levels to eliminate the need for scaffolding and handrails. Roof trusses and partitions were prefabricated and installed efficiently, saving program time. The project was completed ahead of Semester 2, 2023, with Indigenous spend exceeding targets at 4.58% of the total contract value.
