The FKG Group was engaged to deliver the design coordination and construction of the 8,500m² terminal at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport, Australia’s first privately funded public airport and the nation’s first greenfield public airport in almost five decades. The two‑level terminal was developed to support check‑in, baggage handling, arrivals, departures, airline lounges, offices and retail spaces, with capacity for up to 2,000 people and provision for domestic services, charter flights and airfreight operations.

Construction took place on a developing greenfield site with limited infrastructure, requiring temporary utilities, ongoing access realignments and careful logistics planning. Sustainable design initiatives included the use of Earth Friendly Concrete incorporating recycled fly ash. Extensive coordination was required for specialised security systems, baggage handling and late‑stage fit‑outs. The completed terminal provided a modern, scalable aviation facility supporting regional growth.
