With a strong focus on building upon their safety culture, the FKG Group joins in on National Safe Work Month each October to further enhance their commitment to the wellbeing of their employees.
This year’s theme for the Safe Work Australia initiative was ‘Be a Safety Champion’, created to demonstrate that employers and employees from any industry can be a champion for workplace health and safety.
Each week throughout the month saw our project teams hold toolboxes about topics such as why they should be a ‘Safety Champion’, how they can be a mental health or ‘Safety Champion’, and what it means to always be a ‘Safety Champion’.
The FKG Group’s Managing Director, Nick Gardner, said the campaign was complementary to existing safety messages that are supported all year round. “Our team members are like family, and we want to ensure that they’re being safe at all times. Whether it’s looking after themselves on site or looking out for a team member or subbie – our mantra has always been ‘no injuries to anyone’. We enjoy participating in the annual campaign as it gives us the opportunity to spend extra time on site connecting with the team and hearing their personal stories about safety,” said Nick.
The campaign wrapped up with a final toolbox on site and morning or afternoon teas in a few of their offices, where team members were given a little take home reminder.
