Reconciliation Journey

24th June 2020

Last year, the FKG Group began an important journey with its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. The FKG Group has begun to prepare a formal plan, guided by their Reconciliation Working Group, to build on current working relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples and improve their understanding of Indigenous values, culture and history. As part of the RAP, the FKG Group is also looking for opportunities to increase employment and economic opportunities for Indigenous peoples and businesses.

More recently, the FKG Group was proud to recognise and support National Reconciliation Week (NRW), which focuses on closing the gap between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia.

As part of NRW, the FKG Group welcomed special guest John Briggs from JB Consultancy for a virtual presentation to our team. John, an experienced Indigenous consultant, has run over 1000 workshops and cultural awareness programs for both Federal and State Governments. The FKG Group’s Reconciliation Working Group is looking forward to continuing to work with John on the implementation of the FKG Group’s RAP and closing the gap.
