Throughout their Isaac Regional Council roadworks project, the FKG Group saw firsthand the heartbreaking difficulties local farmers were facing. In order to lend a helping hand to the farming community who showed their support during the roadworks, the FKG Group decided to grow forage sorghum at their farm in Cecil Plains.
FKG Group Managing Director Nick Gardner, said they were happy to help those in need. “We have roots embedded in the farming community, so we understand how tough the circumstances are for farmers in regional Queensland. We were happy to grow Forage Sorghum and share this with farmers in the local Clermont region.”
Weighing 42 tonne, the bales were loaded onto the back of a prime mover and taken on a 2,000km journey to Clermont in the Isaac Region where it was donated to farmers affected by the drought.
The FKG Group would like to say a very big thank you to Andrew from Wright Bulk Haulage at Dalby, who donated his time and services by hauling the hay to the Isaac Region for us. We hope that the donation will bring some relief to farmers and help them have a Merrier Christmas.
