Helping ‘It’s a Bloke Thing’ raise record breaking funds for prostate cancer

20th September 2019

With a focus on their employee’s health and wellbeing, the FKG Group has been sponsoring ‘It’s A Bloke Thing’ for nine years, helping to raise vital funds and create awareness of the importance of early detection for prostate cancer. With an early diagnosis, the FKG Group’s Executive Chairman Gary Gardner is a prostate cancer survivor and one of the original founding committee members of ‘It’s A Bloke Thing’ since 2011.

Gary said with a higher ratio of males employed at the FKG Group and with one in six men expected to be diagnosed before their 85th birthday, it was important to stand behind this cause. “Unfortunately prostate cancer doesn’t discriminate, but early detection can save lives. We have a lot of blokes at the FKG Group, so we are constantly reminding them of the importance of putting their health first and to get regular check-ups.”

“Continuing to support It’s A Bloke Thing is our way of making sure the message about prostate cancer gets out into the community, and vital funds are raised to continue research and provide support to those diagnosed,” said Gary.

In early September, the FKG Group proudly sponsored the 2019 ‘It’s A Bloke Thing’ Luncheon for another year, where guests enjoyed a fabulous lunch as well as a surprise performance by Ronan Keating. Raising funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation, the event was attended by close to 600 people, with an incredible and record breaking $2,049,600 raised!
