The FKG Group’s Alligator Creek project included construction of dual overtaking lanes for a 2.2km section of the Bruce Highway, between Alligator Creek Road and Allendale Drive South of Townsville. Works included excavation of cuttings, ground surface treatment, embankment fill, culvert construction, placement of working platform, placement of plant mixed stabilised gravel, bitumen sealing, line marking, installation of road furniture and landscaping.
A high-level traffic control was required due to the large number of vehicles travelling on the Bruce Highway each day. Minimising delays to the travelling public and safety of road users (end of queues) and workforce was paramount during construction. The effective traffic management controls implemented by the FKG Group team enabled zero incidents during the project lifecycle.
