Enoggera DEFCOMMSTA Power Upgrade
FKG was awarded the contract for the Enoggera DEFCOMMSTA Power Upgrade at Gallipoli Barracks, delivering a complex electrical infrastructure package to improve system reliability and capacity.
The scope included replacing an existing substation with a new kiosk substation, upgrading a main switchboard, UPS and emergency generator controls, installing new air conditioning systems, and implementing a building management system for equipment monitoring.
The project was undertaken on an operational Defence base, requiring careful coordination to avoid disruption. Initial constraints around outage durations were resolved through an innovative temporary power solution using existing infrastructure, avoiding significant variation costs. Faulty backup systems and access limitations caused delays, but were mitigated through rescheduling and securing NV1 clearance for key personnel.
