Hangar Door Replacement, Swartz Barracks Oakey
FKG was engaged to replace end-of-life hangar doors at multiple facilities within Swartz Barracks, Oakey. The scope included isolating and disconnecting power to existing roller doors, demolition and disposal of old components, structural modifications to openings and concrete floors, installation of new bi-fold doors, and reconnection of power.
Delivered within an operational defence environment, the project required close coordination with facility users to minimise disruption. Each hangar was securely fenced during works, and a traffic management plan ensured safe access for personnel and mobile plant. COVID-19-related delays impacted door delivery timelines, but regular updates maintained a positive client relationship. Despite these challenges, the project was completed on time, within budget, and achieved an excellent safety outcome.
