The Department of Defence engaged the FKG Group to complete civil works at an ADF base in North Queensland. The project scope included replacement of the existing boat ramp and approximately 10,000m2 of concrete hardstand.
Due to strict site conditions and restricted access, the team undertook detailed pre-planning of activities, ensuring that equipment, tools, material and permits complied with Defence regulations.
The team were able to recycle 95% of demolition waste, reduce the number of joints required by 72%, and re-commission the existing cathodic protection system.
With unique design innovations in place, the team were able to complete the works two months ahead of program.
