‘The Q’ Greyhound Race Track

FKG was engaged for the design and construction of “The Q”, a world-class greyhound racing facility in Purga, Ipswich. The project included three race tracks—straight, one-turn, and two-turn—alongside a grandstand with commercial kitchen, bar, gaming room, Racing Queensland offices, and veterinary and kennel facilities.

Delivered on a 15-hectare greenfield site, the project involved extensive civil works, perimeter fencing, broadcast lighting, and specialist racing infrastructure. FKG divided the site into multiple work fronts and staged handovers to meet operational milestones. Value management and BIM coordination supported efficient delivery, while early procurement mitigated long-lead risks. The facility prioritised greyhound welfare with soundproofed kennels, recovery areas, and safe movement corridors.

Despite weather and authority-related challenges, the project was delivered within the revised program and to a high standard. Strong collaboration with Racing Queensland and proactive community engagement ensured a successful outcome for this landmark venue.
