Yarrabilba State School New GLA Building
FKG was engaged by the Department of Education to design and construct a New Learning Centre, refurbish the Music Room, and deliver external works and landscaping at Yarrabilba State School. The project was delivered in three Separable Portions to minimise disruption, with disruptive works scheduled outside school hours and during holiday periods.
Close coordination with school staff ensured safe shared access and tailored fencing solutions, including child-proof mesh and branded shade cloth for dust control.
Design innovations improved buildability and usability, such as converting post-tension slabs to reinforced concrete, reconfiguring retaining walls for safer outdoor spaces, and replacing operable walls with sliding doors for ease of use. Indigenous Procurement Policy targets were exceeded, and 95% of subcontractor spend supported local businesses.
