FKG were engaged by the client to restore the heritage-listed Foundry building in Toowoomba to a base-build standard suitable for future tenant occupancy. Works included extensive internal and external upgrades, such as structural steel erection, flooring replacement, wall cladding, amenities installation, and services integration. The site’s location within a busy commercial precinct required careful coordination with neighbouring businesses and ongoing community engagement.
Throughout construction, latent conditions prompted significant scope increases, including structural instability and hazardous materials. FKG collaborated closely with the client and consultants to develop safe and compliant design alternatives, ensuring the building’s integrity and suitability for occupation. Program adjustments were made to accommodate material availability and site activity constraints, with fortnightly reviews supporting transparent decision-making. FKG’s design and construction expertise enabled the successful delivery of a complex restoration project while preserving the site’s heritage character.
