Hastings Secondary School

FKG was engaged to design and construct upgrades across Hastings Secondary College’s Port Macquarie and West Port campuses. The works included new Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) and Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) buildings, lift installations, refurbishments, and external improvements.

Delivery across two operational campuses required detailed staging and coordination to minimise disruption. Site access, fencing, and demountable setups were planned in consultation with school staff and adjusted outside school hours. Environmental controls were enhanced to manage significant rainfall and protect adjacent facilities.

Design development involved collaboration with stakeholders and regulatory bodies to navigate multiple planning pathways. Indigenous consultation informed landscaping and cultural features. Innovations included a slim-line dance floor to meet accessibility standards and construction joints to mitigate weather delays. Sustainability outcomes were achieved through solar installations, recycled materials, and waste management. Consistent communication and adaptive planning ensured safe, functional, and modernised learning environments tailored to the needs of both campuses.
