QUBE Bulk Storage
FKG was engaged for the design and construction of a 10,500m² bulk goods warehouse and weighbridge facility at the Port of Brisbane. The project included a new warehouse with four storage bays, refurbished cargo and amenities buildings, and a 40m weighbridge.
FKG collaborated closely with the client to develop innovative structural solutions that addressed geotechnical constraints and eliminated the need for ground improvement. The facility was designed to meet QUBE’s operational and quarantine requirements, with integrated traffic flow and material handling systems.
Construction was delivered within an accelerated program, despite late-stage design changes and operational interface with adjoining sites. Key innovations included redundant column design to maintain progress during long-lead truss procurement and early morning concrete pours to mitigate cracking.
