FKG was engaged for the design and construction of a new ambulance station and Local Ambulance Service Network (LASN) office in Burdell, Townsville. The scope included a ten-bay plant room, rest and study spaces, training areas, patient care store, amenities, and general office facilities. Site works featured secure access, covered parking, and a 50kW solar system.

Wet weather and poor clay soil conditions posed a major challenge, preventing scaffold use. FKG proposed and implemented ground improvements and elevated work platforms to maintain progress. Lessons learned from previous QAS projects informed design efficiencies and cost-saving alternatives. In-ground services were coordinated through a shared trench, requiring precise planning. Community engagement and site security were prioritised due to the residential location. The project was delivered on time and within budget, achieving high safety standards and quality outcomes.
