The FKG Group was engaged to deliver a specialist workshop precinct in Mackay to support maintenance of large mining equipment, including 797‑series dump trucks. Delivered across multiple stages, the project comprised eight new buildings, including a parts warehouse, administration facilities, maintenance workshops, utilities buildings, wash bays with water‑recycling systems, oil‑store buildings and extensive hardstand areas. Civil works included bulk earthworks, large concrete pavements, drainage, retention basins and associated services reticulation.
Tropical weather conditions, including summer rainfall and flooding, required careful sequencing, additional staffing and night works. A fire in broke out in Building 4 before an extension could begin, which triggered a full rebuild, completed concurrently with Stage 3, supported by a temporary paint and blast booth to maintain operations. The completed industrial park provides modern facilities, resilient infrastructure and efficient heavy‑equipment servicing capacity.
