Pimpama Police Station

FKG were engaged by the Department of Energy and Public Works to design and construct a new police station in Pimpama, co-located with the adjacent QFES Station. The facility was developed to support population growth in the northern Gold Coast region and is situated on a 2.4-hectare site.

Design efficiencies were achieved by integrating lessons learned from previous QPS projects, including adjustments to finished levels that reduced the need for extensive retaining structures, while the external façade was designed to complement the neighbouring QFES facility with a domestic scale and low-maintenance materials. Material substitutions were made in response to supply chain disruptions, maintaining program continuity. The team utilised 3D modelling to facilitate stakeholder engagement and streamline design reviews.

Despite challenges posed by COVID-19, the project reached practical completion eight weeks ahead of schedule. Indigenous Procurement Policy requirements were met through careful trade vetting, and strong local subcontractor relationships supported delivery.
